National Corvette Day Drive & The Dump Bar & Grill
June 30 @ 10:15 am - 3:00 pm CDT
Free
This year MCC has approved a drive to commemorate National Corvette Day!
Overview: We’ll meet at 10:15am and depart at 10:30am from McDonalds in Delafield. Take a leisurely 70-mile drive to Cambria, indoor, outdoor seating, enjoy lunch, kick-back and relax, and then a self-guided drive back home. The cut-off for sign-up is 30 members (19 members already signed up).
June 30th is remembered as the origin of the Corvette — the iconic American sports automobile. The first Corvette was introduced in 1953 by the General Motors automobile factory in Michigan. Two corvettes were produced on 6/30/1953. Since then, and 73 years later, a total exceeding 1.9 million have been manufactured.
The first day of Corvette production is not the only automotive milestone for June 30th. In 1908 GM was established in Flint, Michigan. In 1955 GM introduced the V8 engine, and in 1981 Corvette production was transferred from St Louis to Bowling Green. In 2008, the American House of Representatives announced that June 30 would be commemorated as National Corvette Day. Incidentally, this was the year when GM had completed 100 years of its operations, which made it the right time to dedicate an entire day in the national calendar to celebrate those important milestones.
And there’s more!! Our Tuesday drive will take us to an establishment celebrating another victory in 2026. We will travel to The Dump Bar and Grill in Cambria WI. The Tennessee Whiskey Burger from The Dump Bar & Grill in Cambria, WI has been crowned the 2026 winner of the 3rd annual Wisconsin Beef Council’s Best Burger Contest. Although the Dump Bar offers a full menu, the Tennessee Whiskey Burger sounds really good. Check-out their website for their complete food line-up.
Hopefully you can join us on the club drive, if not, remember that June 30th is National Corvette Day and if you don’t drive your corvette(s) on that day your car radio will probably lose its memory.
